Purchasing a home:


A property maintenance inspection has to be completed and approved before utilities>,

can be set up for the new owner. The cost for this is $100.00. If the seller does not

complete this the buyer will be responsible for having this done

The new occupants will need to apply for an occupancy permit and the cost for this is $30.00

If the home has gas a deposit of $50.00 is required

A water deposit of $20.00 is required

Homes that are in the city limits are required to have trash service through the Village at

a cost of $13.85/month per household. This is for weekly pick up for regular garbage

and recycling. Trash is picked up on Wednesday mornings. This service is not required

providing you have a contract for weekly pick up for dumpster service. A copy of that

contract will need to be given to the Utility Office

Renting a home:

The landlord must call the Utility Office at 618-286-3280 and give approval for the

utilities to be put in the tenants’ name.

The landlord must also have an approved property maintenance inspection on file

These are good for 3 years. If there is not one on file the landlord will need to apply for

one. The cost is $30.00

The tenant will be required to apply for an occupancy permit. Cost is $30.00

If the home has gas the tenant will be required to pay a deposit of $100.00.
